In 3 Years, This Family Has Hosted 94 Times

When Together for Good began in Iowa in 2022, Kurt and Heather Moyer were among the first to volunteer as a host family.

Over the past three years, Kurt and Heather have hosted 94 times, which amounts to 144 days! They have consistently opened their home and heart to four different families. Those four families represent six children who have become dearly loved by the Moyer family. Kurt, Heather, and their adult children take the time to regularly invest in their hosted children, lovingly showing them and their parents that they are loved and surrounded by community.

Reflecting on the Moyers’ involvement in Together for Good, Iowa’s Site Director, Ashley, said, “This family continues to go above and beyond in supporting [participant ] families and Together for Good as a whole.”

Kurt and Heather serve on the TFG Local Advisory Committee in Iowa, providing support and advice for Together for Good’s work. Their insight continuously ensures that TFG participants and volunteers receive the best care and support possible.

The Moyers continue to be a voice within the community for vulnerable families, sharing about the work of Together for Good and even winning a grant to help continue funding this support!

When asked why they feel so called to this work, Heather said, “We love the mission of TFG and are happy to help support families in any way possible.”

Thinking of the children they host, Heather added, “We love the relationships that we have been able to build with the families that we have been able to help with hostings.”

Every time our case managers say yes to helping a mom in crisis who calls TFG for help, it is because of volunteers like the Moyer family. We are so grateful for the years of love and kindness that the Moyer family and so many other host families have shared with vulnerable parents and children.

As we get closer to the end of Together for Good’s third year of work in Iowa, we are especially thankful for the host families and parent advocates who have served from the very beginning. Your faithful involvement has been an answer to prayer and is making a daily difference in the community.
