A Prayer Prayed. A Car Provided.

Last month, we shared about Daisy, the mom who temporarily lost her sons to foster care because of her addiction.

Since reaching her lowest point, Daisy has completed treatment, been reunited with her sons, and is actively creating community through Together for Good. Through perseverance, hard work, and the support of her church community, she has made tremendous progress toward her goals.

A few weeks ago, Daisy shared with members of her church that the biggest hindrance in her life right now was car trouble.

Not having a reliable car imposed a lot of limitations on Daisy’s life, specifically when it came to her commute to work and to church. Daisy had been told that the projected cost of repairs on the car would be more expensive than the car was worth. Lack of reliable transportation was one of the final barriers preventing Daisy’s family from moving forward with greater stability and community.

So leadership in her church began praying that the Lord would provide a new car for her.

Unbeknownst to Daisy or her church, at that very same time, God was prompting a couple who attended a different church to donate their car to someone in need.

The church the couple attended was also a partner with Together for Good, so their ministry coordinator decided to reach out to TFG to see if there was a participant mom who would be particularly blessed by a vehicle.

TFG’s Program Director, Sara, witnessed God's perfect timing in a powerful way. Sara connected the couple with Daisy, and they were able to present her and her sons with the answer to Daisy’s prayers.

We are continually humbled by the ways God provides through His Church. Stories like this remind us that when God’s people respond faithfully to His prompting, lives are changed in meaningful and lasting ways.

Not only is God working in his perfect timing to care for vulnerable families, but this story illustrates the power that the local church has in Central Iowa to support families in need.

This chapter in Daisy’s story is such a beautiful example that we are not doing this work in isolation. No volunteer, donor, or church is alone as they serve families in crisis. Instead, the TFG community in Iowa is steadily growing to serve more families, together.
