The Impact of 3 Years of Support

Three years ago, Paula was referred to Together for Good by a school social worker, who thought additional support would be helpful to Paula as she raised her two grandsons, Sean and Dominic.

When Paula first reached out to Together for Good, Sean and Dominic were only 4 and 6 years old. Although well-behaved, the boys were at busy ages, and Paula was struggling with several of her own health concerns that greatly limited her mobility.

“Together for Good has been a big blessing to me and my boys,” Paula wrote. For the past three years, host families have been coming alongside Sean and Dominic with intentionality and Paula with support.

Six months ago, Sean and Dominic were paired with a regular host family who have been investing in the now 7- and 9-year-olds with such love and grace.

TFG is the best thing that has happened in our lives,” Paula shared, “It makes me happy to have people who are so compassionate. The boys are so young, and it's so good to have people to help.”

Sean and Dominic have thrived during weekends with their host families—who are now just their friends—and as they participate in other activities through TFG—like Pine Cove Camp!

Not only have Sean and Dominic felt tangible love from TFG volunteers, but Paula has been blessed by wrap-around support and a parent advocate, Sherri. Sherri and Paula talk on the phone every week, creating community for Paula, even when she is unable to meet in person.

Paula, Sean, and Dominic’s story is a beautiful reminder that Together for Good is about consistency. Each of the volunteers pouring into this family’s life has created a consistent network of support that has allowed two little boys to thrive and has reminded a grandmother that she is not alone or forgotten.
