With little heads-up, Charlize suddenly found herself preparing for her abuser to walk back through her apartment door, and was afraid for her daughter, Selena. Her worst fear was that her ex would act out violently against Selena. All she needed was a place for Selena to spend the night, somewhere she would be loved and cared for—but most of all—somewhere safe.

The Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) responded to a mom walking with her two children along the roadside. During the conversation, the first responders felt that the mom, Carrie*, would benefit from a mental health assessment and support. Carrie was interested in the assessment; however told the first responders that she couldn’t because she had nowhere for her children, Evie* and Elijah*, to go. So, MCOT called Together for Good. Ten days after she gave birth to Jeremiah, Kiera experienced a significant mental health crisis.

It seems like everywhere you turn in the month of February, there is a little note, marketing quip, or sign about how to show someone they are loved. This past month at Together for Good, volunteers set the bar when it comes to showing vulnerable families that they are seen, known, and loved. In fact, on Valentine’s Day, a host family went above and beyond to help a participant mom who had suddenly become sick with the flu.

As Jen drove home that night, she reflected on the day. Three crisis calls in the span of only 6 hours, drastically different needs, all urgent, all important, and all met. Jen knew that Jesus was not surprised by any of these calls, and He had already been moving in the hearts of TFG host families to show these new participant moms and their children that they are seen, known, and loved by their Heavenly Father.

Kenzie was expecting twins and had been admitted to the hospital the day before due to complications with her pregnancy. Kenzie and the social worker had just finished a conversation with Kenzie’s OB-GYN, who strongly recommended that Kenzie stay in the hospital on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy to protect her health and that of her babies. The problem? Kenzie had nowhere for her six-year-old daughter to stay for ten weeks

Alicia* desperately wanted to get clean. She knew she needed to escape the hold that addiction had on her life, so she called a treatment program. The program coordinator told Alicia that they had an opening in their program and would love to offer it to her.

When, Hannah* was abruptly told she had to leave the shelter she and her six-month-old son were staying at, she called Together for Good. With the dropping temperatures, Hannah didn’t want her son, Michael*, to spend the night outside, but she didn’t have any family or friends that she could stay with.

Rachelle had just been told by her OB-GYN that she would need to have a C-section this week for the health of her baby. When Rachelle shared that she had no where for her four and six-year-old sons to stay during the C-section and recovery, the hospital staff gave her TFG’s number. When Leah was hospitalized with a severe respiratory infection in early April, the hospital called Together for Good (TFG) for care for her 4-month-old son, Michael. Leah had moved from out of state and had no family to care for her son.
